Finally getting around to sharing Declan's Nursery, its only been almost a year since he was born but oh well! I pretty much had everything set up months before he was born and it was so much fun to put together. Though I don't recommend trying to build Ikea furniture at 8 months pregnant. You end up feeling like a beached whale who has to kind of role your body around. I'll just let you visualize that instead of posting the incredibly unflattering pics Tony took of me.
I knew I wanted lots of children's books in hopes that my love for books would pass on to Declan! Be sure to check out my list of favorites here. I've never been a huge fan of stuffed animals, feeling that you always end up with a ton just lying around as your children get older. But Tony and I held onto a cow and elephant stuffed animal that we won together in one of those stuffed animal arcade machines when we were dating. I remember telling him we should keep these for our future children, so I held onto them for years and it is so fun to now see them in Declan's room. I also cannot resist wood toys! I may have gone a little overboard with the wood toys but I have no regrets!
Being mainly a natural light photographer I'm always drawn to spaces with lots of natural tones, so I went with white, natural wood, and some pops of dusty blue and gray. Sharing my passion for travel in his room (which he has become quiet the world traveler himself having already been to Japan and Europe) I love the space we put together for him!
I'm so excited to continue to add and change his room as he grows and has his own interests! If any of you have book suggestions or favorite online places to shop for your kiddos I'd love to hear them!
Cheers
